School workshop and production FAQs

HOW LONG DO THE WORKSHOPS RUN FOR?

Our interactive curriculum workshops usually last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the age group. Character visits and other formats vary, so tell us what you have in mind and we will confirm the timings. School productions run over a series of rehearsals instead, see below.

CAN WE BOOK JUST THE ONE WORKSHOP?

Yes. You can book a single workshop, or we can run the same workshop for several classes on the same day.

HOW MUCH ARE THE WORKSHOPS?

Our costs vary depending on the length of workshop and number of children taking part. Enquire now for a quotation.

HOW MANY PUPILS CAN WE HAVE IN A WORKSHOP?

Our EYFS workshops can cater for up to 60 children (when there is more than one class per year group), however we do recommend that smaller groups of 30 children are more ideal. We are flexible and able to cater for your needs.
Curriculum Workshops can cater for up to 60 children in one go (when there is more than one class per year group). However, we generally recommend that smaller groups of 30 are more ideal.
With all of our other styles of workshops we are flexible about numbers and can add on additional practitioners if you prefer to have a larger group take part in a session.

DO YOU USE COSTUMES AND PROPS IN YOUR WORKSHOPS?

This varies, depending on the style of the workshop
In our EYFS Workshops we use basic items such as hats/ masks and scarves to give an idea of character as well as props and small set items to encourage and stimulate children’s imaginations and to help bring our workshops to life.
Topic based workshops for all ages involve some costumes, masks and props for the interactive sections.
In our Character in role sessions, actors come fully costumed to run the workshop session and have some props and costumes for the children to use, where appropriate. Some of our history session, such as ‘Stone Age’ have relics and replica items for the children to handle and examine.

WHAT KIND OF SPACE DO YOU NEED?

As most of our workshops encourage physical movement, we ideally prefer to work in a hall or studio. However, we are able to run sessions within the classroom as long as there is enough space and clear of any hazards.

WHAT IS YOUR AVAILABILITY?

Our diary changes through the year, so it is best to get in touch as early as you can. Our workshop leaders cover schools across London and Surrey, and we will come back to you with the dates we have free.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DOES A SCHOOL PRODUCTION NEED?

It depends on the production. Year 6 leavers’ productions and school musicals need a minimum of ten sessions. Literature-based leavers’ productions need at least five rehearsals, and topic plays usually need three or four. Have a look at our school productions to compare the options.

ARE YOUR STAFF DBS CHECKED?

Yes. All of our staff are DBS checked, and Kirsty Dickson is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. We are fully insured and can provide risk assessments and a copy of our safeguarding policy for any booking.

WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER?

We work with schools across London and Surrey.

CAN YOU ADAPT SESSIONS FOR PUPILS WITH SEND OR EAL?

Yes. Our sessions are inclusive and we are happy to adapt activities so that every child can take part. Let us know about any particular needs when you enquire and we will plan around them.
