About Reflect TIE
Reflect TIE (Theatre in Education) brings drama into primary schools across London and Surrey. We work alongside teachers to run curriculum workshops, PSHE sessions and drama skills workshops, and to stage school productions involving pupils from Early Years through to Key Stage 2.
We set high standards for ourselves and for everyone who takes part. Expectations are clear and our sessions are respectful, positive and motivating. Drama is a brilliant way to unlock creativity, build communication skills and grow confidence, and when it is used alongside the National Curriculum it gives children a fresh and memorable way into familiar topics. As well as our regular workshops and productions, we are always happy to create bespoke sessions to meet a particular need.
Who we are
Reflect TIE is run by Kirsty Dickson, who has been delivering drama workshops and productions in schools for nearly 20 years. Our practitioners and directors are experienced in working with children of all ages and abilities, and every project is planned with the class teacher so it fits the needs of your pupils.
Meet Kirsty
Kirsty Dickson has been teaching drama to children since 2007. In 2015, she founded Reflect TIE to bring her passion for drama and education directly into primary schools. With nearly 20 years of experience delivering drama workshops and productions, she understands how to make drama engaging, accessible and meaningful for children of all abilities.
Kirsty believes that drama has something to offer every child, not just those who enjoy being on stage. Through drama, children develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork, resilience and the willingness to step outside their comfort zones. These are skills that extend far beyond the rehearsal room, supporting their learning, relationships and everyday lives.
She is committed to maintaining high standards while creating a supportive and encouraging environment where every child feels included, appropriately challenged and able to achieve. Her approach is rooted in a simple belief: with the right guidance and opportunities, every child can grow through drama.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of the children we work with comes first. All of our staff are DBS checked, and Kirsty is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. We are fully insured, and we can provide risk assessments and copies of our safeguarding policy for any booking. Just ask.
What our sessions aim to do
Build confidence and self-esteem
Children have regular chances to reflect on their own progress and to choose skills they would like to develop. Our sessions give naturally confident children a creative outlet and help quieter, shyer children find their voice.
Encourage teamwork
Whether it is a group activity in a workshop or the shared work of putting on a show, pupils learn to cooperate, listen and support each other.
Develop communication skills
Drama helps children speak more clearly, listen carefully and use a wider vocabulary. It is good practice to build these skills young so they come naturally as children move up through school.
Spark creativity
Creative work helps children express and cope with their feelings, celebrate what makes each of them different and think through different outcomes to a situation. Telling stories, improvising and performing all help them learn and remember new words.
Bring topics to life
Our workshops lift the curriculum off the page, which helps pupils connect with the material and remember it.
